Our history
A deep bond with dogs and a comprehensive understanding of their needs drove veterinarian Dante Scherrer and Claudio Steiner to create something unique. Out of love for their own dogs, the SWISSCOWERS ® brand was born - with a special range of cheese products that not only give our dogs a lot of pleasure, but also respect the welfare of our milk-producing farm animals.
We proudly produce all our products exclusively in Switzerland from 100% Swiss raw materials. Why is this so important to us? Because the most important raw material for our cheese products - the milk - comes from Swiss cows in the region and we can trace the milk back to its origin.
At SWISSCOWERS ® we are convinced that our four-legged friends deserve only the best quality. That is why we have developed completely natural cheese products for pets, which are produced in a BRC-certified family business in food quality.
The high protein content as well as the naturally contained calcium in our delicious cheese products are unique and nutritionally particularly valuable. Through the natural fermentation process during cheese ripening, we have created a product line with a broad spectrum of beneficial bacteria such as Lactobacillus spp. and Bifidobacterium spp. These support a healthy intestinal flora and strengthen the immune system of our dogs.
Our philosophy
Our philosophy at SWISSCOWERS ® is clear: we want to produce healthy products for dogs sustainably and at the same time take the welfare of our dairy cows into consideration. That's why we source our milk from regional farms where the cows are kept in small herds and have regular access to pasture.
Switzerland's animal welfare legislation is among the strictest in the world, setting new standards. The average herd size in Switzerland is just 26 cows per farm, which makes traditional grazing possible. The small number of animals also means that our farmers have a close relationship with their cows. In Switzerland, for example, each cow has its own name.
High quality standards, animal welfare & protection, support for regional dairy farms, etc. are not just buzzwords for us, but form the cornerstone of our actions. We show that it is possible to work with animal-based raw materials in a sustainable and responsible way. Our products are proof of this.
We work tirelessly to raise consumer awareness of animal welfare and protection, regionality and sustainability. We want to set a good example and therefore produce our cheese products in Switzerland in a regional, family-run cheese dairy, using only raw materials from Switzerland.
